## Pricing questions
### What does multi-region consensus mean?
Every check runs from multiple regions at once. We open an incident only when at least two of those regions agree the target is down in the same round. One flaky region alone does not open an incident. When one region votes down, we fan out confirmation checks to the others so quorum does not wait for the next scheduled round.
### Is the free tier really usable in production?
Yes. Free includes multi-region consensus across 3 regions, 30-second checks, on-call and escalation, and a status page on your own domain. Commercial use is allowed. Ten monitors cover most early production setups; upgrade when you need more monitors, 10-second checks, all six regions, or all alert channels.
### How fast do you detect downtime?
Free checks as often as every 30 seconds. Pro and Business can check every 10 seconds. With consensus fan-out, a real multi-region outage typically pages within roughly one check interval plus confirmation — about 10–20 seconds on Pro.
### Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The free plan needs no card. You only add payment when you choose to upgrade.
### Can I change plans later?
Anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated credit from your previous plan. Downgrades apply at the start of your next billing cycle — the current period continues at the higher tier.
### Can I get a refund on a paid plan?
Yes, within our eligibility window: monthly plans qualify for a full refund within 7 days of your initial subscription, and annual plans within 14 days. After that, you can cancel anytime to stop future billing, but the current period is non-refundable and you keep access until it ends.
### How do I request a refund?
Email billing@tallwatch.com from your account address with the approximate charge date and, if you have it, the invoice number from billing settings. We aim to acknowledge requests within one business day and resolve them within five. Refunds are processed via Stripe to your original payment method.
### What happens when I cancel a paid plan?
Cancellation stops automatic renewal. You retain full access until the end of your current billing period — we never cut you off mid-cycle. If you were charged after a trial and meant to cancel, contact us within 7 days of the charge for a full refund.
### Do you offer a discount for annual billing?
Yes. Annual billing saves up to 20% versus monthly. Use the toggle above to compare.
### What happens when I hit my monitor limit?
Existing monitors keep running. You are prompted to upgrade before adding more, and we never silently stop checking something you depend on.
### Do you support SSO or longer retention?
Business keeps 365 days of check history today. SSO is on the Business roadmap — reach out if you need it scoped for your team.
### How is payment handled?
Securely, right inside Tallwatch with no redirect. We never see or store your card details.
